How does the free trial work?

You get 5 minutes of subtitle generation free when you sign up — no credit card required. Trial credits never expire. When you run out, you can either keep the free tier and stop generating, or pick a paid plan and continue.

What's the difference between monthly and annual billing?

Annual billing gives you the same credit allowance every month for roughly 12 months at the price of 10 — about a 17% discount overall. You can switch from monthly to annual any time from the billing portal.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. Cancel from the billing portal in two clicks. You keep full access until the end of your current billing period, then your account moves to the free tier. We don't lock you in or hide the cancel button.

What happens to my unused credits when the month resets?

Monthly credits do not roll over — each billing cycle starts fresh with your plan's allotment. If you regularly have credits left, consider downgrading; if you regularly run out, the next plan tier saves you money over overage charges.

Do you offer refunds?

If a job fails on our end — Whisper timeout, GPT-4o error, anything that's our fault — your credits are automatically refunded and no charge is applied. For subscription refunds outside of that, email support and we'll work it out case by case.

What file formats are supported?

Video: MP4, MOV, WEBM. Audio: MP3, WAV, M4A. Maximum file size is 500 MB. If your file is in another format, run it through any free converter (HandBrake, ffmpeg) and upload the MP4 — quality is preserved.

What's the maximum video length?

There's no hard cap — long videos are processed in chunks. Credit cost is rounded up to the nearest minute, so a 2 hr 14 min video uses 134 credits. In practice we recommend splitting anything longer than 90 minutes into reels or chapters so the editor stays snappy.

Which languages does the AI support?

Whisper supports 99 languages with native-quality transcription, and GPT-4o segments most major languages with phrase-level accuracy. English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Italian, Turkish and Mandarin are the most thoroughly tested.

Can I export the subtitles for use in Premiere or Final Cut?

Yes. Pro and Agency plans export FCPXML (Final Cut Pro / DaVinci Resolve) and EDL (Premiere Pro / Avid). The full SRT, VTT and ASS files are available on every plan.

Do you store my videos after processing?

Your input file is kept in encrypted storage so you can re-edit or re-export without re-uploading. You can delete a project — or your entire account — from the dashboard at any time, and our 30-day grace window lets you change your mind.

Most auto-caption tools split subtitles by character count or fixed time intervals — so phrases get chopped mid-thought. BestSubtitle runs every transcript through GPT-4o, which scores each possible break point for grammatical and semantic meaning, then snaps to natural phrase boundaries.

What is Whisper and what is GPT-4o doing?

Whisper is OpenAI's speech-to-text model — it converts your audio into a precise word-level transcript with millisecond timestamps. GPT-4o is then used purely for the segmentation step: deciding where one subtitle ends and the next begins, in a way that respects clauses, noun phrases and sentence structure.

How accurate are the transcripts?

Whisper produces 97-99% word accuracy for clean studio audio in English, and stays above 90% across most other languages. For noisy environments, heavy accents, or technical jargon, expect to hand-edit a few words in the editor — but the time savings vs. typing from scratch are still significant.

Can I edit subtitles after they're generated?

Yes — the full editor lets you merge or split blocks, retime, edit text, restyle, and change the lines-per-screen / character budget. Your changes re-render the preview live and update the export file.

How do I download all my data?

Accepted Answer

Open Settings → Danger zone → Download. You'll get a JSON file containing your profile, every project, every credit transaction, and your subscription history. Output files (SRT, VTT, MP4) are referenced by URL so you can pull them from storage at your own pace.

How do I delete my account?

Accepted Answer

Settings → Danger zone → Delete account. You'll need to type your email to confirm. We mark the account as deleted immediately and stop sending you any non-essential email. After 30 days, everything is permanently removed. You can undo by signing back in within that window.
